The Band

The duo emerged from the Kingston Tree Trio, born out of requests from clients, clubs, and restaurants who wanted the same vibrant sound tailored for more intimate, controlled environments. Nigel’s imaginative use of a looper adds depth, texture, and layered richness—leaving you wondering how it’s only two musicians on stage. 

Nigel and Ian are actually formally trained musicians from the prestigious Berklee College of Music. The acoustic trio showcases a stronger jazz influence with a Caribbean flair perfect for small parties and cocktail hours.

Kingston Tree is a genre-blending power trio rooted in Caribbean rhythms and fueled by the exploratory spirit of a jam band. 

Nigel and Ian first connected at Berklee College of Music, bringing their formal training and Caribbean heritage to the foundation of the band’s sound. At the core of Kingston Tree is reggae—symbolized by “Kingston”—while “Tree” represents both the trio format and the diverse musical branches they explore during extended live jams.
